Email Migration for Human Resources Department Notification -

The e-mail migration for City of Houston employees to the new e-mail system is on the move!*

What Does It Mean To You

Starting the month of April 2010, all current e-mail accounts are being migrated to a new robust e-mail system, which will provide better performance, more reliability, bigger mailboxes and an updated Outlook Web Access. The new system is being tested and fine-tuned by ITD and will be launched Citywide starting in the next few weeks.

Your E-mail Address will change!

All City of Houston e-mail addresses will change from firstname.lastname@cityofhouston.net to firstname.lastname@houstontx.gov. You will still be able to receive e-mail via your old e-mail address for one year. The e-mail address conversion to houstontx.gov is part of the overall identity and branding work also including embedded web pages, business cards, stationery and building signage.

Once an e-mail user has been through the migration process, all future e-mails replied to will be sent to and from your new houstontx.gov address. You will receive a notification several weeks before your department’s migration begins; so be on the lookout for the e-mail notification.

Again, both your new e-mail address as well as your old e-mail address will continue to deliver e-mail to your Inbox for one year. After that time, messages addressed to your old e-mail address will be rejected as non-deliverable.

Once again, the migration to the new robust e-mail system has commenced for City of Houston employees. We are taking every step possible to make this transition smooth and worry free. We know that you will love the change as much as we do!
